Say you want to use your camera to take a self portrait, and you want some way to trigger the shutter release on your camera, There’s an app for that.
That’s right, there is now a new iPhone application by onOne Software that is designed to work with Canon EOS DSLRs. It turns your iPhone into a remote control for your camera with the help of onOne software. It’s called the DSLR Remote. and allows you to control settings such as white balance, shutter speed, aperture, in addition to being able to fire the camera shutter. If your camera has live view, you should be able to even see a stream of the live view on your iPhone. It’s not quite as simple as using the Canon remote or a Pocket Wizard to remotely trigger the camera, but neither of those allow you to make any adjustments before triggering. And of course, you have to have the camera tethered to a computer.
The DSLR Remote application Should be available from the iTunes App Store soon (just waiting for approval from Apple) at an introductory price of $9.99 A “Lite” version will also be available for $1.99 that only fires the shutter. There is a required sotware that runs on your computer that will be available free from the onOne website.
For more information, go to the onOne blog and read the information and watch the video demonstration.
