Abort abort abort

I’m a seasoned traveler. I fly a lot. I’ve experienced rough flights, hard landings, and extreme delays. I’ve had lost luggage amd slept in airports. But this was a first for me. Aborted take-off.

My flight out of Laguardia NY was roaring down the runway and I felt myself being pushed back into my seat from the force of the speed. Just as I was expecting to feel us go airborne, the opposite happened. Engines thrown into reverse, brakes at full blast. We’re all thrust forward in our seats as the plane struggles to stop before hitting the water. Once the aircraft has stopped and we’re starting to loosen our grip on the armrests, the pilot gets on the com “folks, we had to abort the take-off. I’ll get back to you in a minute.” ok, I think we all had noticed we aborted the take-off. Ha. I’m sure the pilot’s heart was still racing. So, equipment change, free drinks, and a few hours later we arrived safely at our destination. Three cheers for American Airlines.

alison - um…I would be freaking out!! I have always been a little scared of LGA b/c of the short runway & the water being right there. But, wow!

Glad you are safe!

Tracy - I HATE LGA! I always feel like we’re going in the drink.

Paul - Yikes. That’s certainly not fun. Glad you got where you needed to be eventually, and safely.
