Rock [fine art friday]

Its been a busy few months and Fine Art Friday got lost in the shuffle. This months installment is a piece titled Rock. I spent an afternoon in the Valley Of Fire National park, outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Its an amazing place to visit and photograph, with interesting rock formations. Despite the vivid red rocks and deep blue sky, I chose to use the simplicity of black & white to highlight the contours and textures.

Beth P - Very neat perspective! I love the black and white and the detail it brings out!

Karen Blesch - Interesting choice of B&W. Not what I would have expected from all that red rock out there, but it works wonderfully! I hike out there and I always shoot color because of the bright red rocks and the deep blue sky, but seeing the B&W makes me think I need to try B&W. I can see how the color distracts me from the lines. Now I want to drive out and try some B&W!
