Sewing Machines [Fine Art Friday]

October’s installment of Fine Art Friday takes us back to London. Every Saturday morning there’s a massive invasion on Portabello Road where all of Europe (ok, maybe only half) flood the road and shops in search of fine antiques, less fine collectibles, and bargains of all sorts. It’s part antiques, part souveniers, part farmers market and food stands, and 100% people watching. There’s a scarf designer I always visit there (I’m a scarf addict). That collection and obsession is a whole story in itself. OK, so I was making my pilgrimage to Portabello (which is only a few blocks from the flat) and photographed the market. I was also being filmed for an upcoming project that will be revealed at a later date. So, this is one of the images from a shop on Portabello. durham nc fine art photography

Beth P - I love this! The mood of this image just makes me curious to know the history of all of those machines! The composition is perfect – I love how the line just continues on and you cannot really tell how many there are.

leighann - This place was great! I wanted to ask to do some shooting using their seeing machines as backdrop. They had hundreds, maybe thousands (I’m terrible at estimating). The lined the walls and storefront. There was a time I has a coffee pot/percolator collection but it wasn’t that extensive.

Heather Sikkenga - This is a masterpiece!!! I love everything about it. I wish I was close to this location cause my next assignment for my college class is right along this line. Oh I love your editing for this also. 🙂
