Another year of Pitchfork Music Festival is in the books. It was a stellar year once again. The only downside was the oppressive heat and humidity. Of all the bands I’ve photographed in my career, I’d have to say The Flaming Lips is possible the most fun and exciting shoot ever. It’s like the circus comes to town, with confetti canons, massive colored balloons, strange psychedelic light show, dancers dressed in various costumes, and of course, the charismatic Wayne Coyne. And if that isn’t enough, the fans are crazy fun, in their elaborate costumes.
