So, I’m frantically trying to finish my Christmas shopping, fulfill all my client orders, round up all the dust bunnies that have invaded my home, and, oh, design my own family Christmas cards. What? I’m a photographer, I should have had that done a long time ago, right? Right. but, like most photographers, we get so busy photographing everyone else and designing their products, we don’t get around to concentrating on our until the last minute. So, yes, I’m busy today photographing my family, designing our cards, and sending that off to the printer. Now if I could only get my toddler to wear the outfit I have picked out for him. If you get a card with a cute little guy in his footie pajamas, you know I lost that battle.

I spend time with lots of kids, both socially and professionally. Each child has their own personality, their own spark. My goal when photographing a child is to try and capture that spark and the emotion they bring to everything. So you can imagine, I get a lot of laughing, smiling, playing, having fun types of images, which I love. They make me smile. But sometimes, there’s an image that just grabs me. It can be beautiful eyes, or a certain light, or an image that shows a deep emotional connection. This image is one of those. It stops me in my tracks.

I love walking through a garden and finding little hidden treasures. This garden has lots of secret places and surprises peaking out from the shrubs and flowers. I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed these tiny discoveries, as these two angels seemed to be having a great time together.

Don’t you just love these eyes! And this smile! She’s such a doll and as sweet as can be.

Oh the joys of childhood. That first lost tooth and the first visit by the Tooth Fairy. Doesn’t this grin make you smile?
